We use metal in dentures to increase the strength and durability for your application. Although be assured, the metal part of the denture will not be apparent to anyone however, with partial dentures, the clasp may be ever so slightly visible.
If you are missing teeth as a result of growing older, trauma, infection or basic tooth wear and tear, you may find the ideal solution in metal dentures, which will remain in place without the using a denture adhesive gel.
What are metal dentures made from?
The metal dentures are manufactured with a medical-grade alloy, used in chrome dentures, which is a hypoallergenic ensuring you do not suffer from an allergic reaction because of the material.
Although the thought of a metal denture may not be that appealing to many, the use of metal dentures could provide a number of benefits to denture wearers who have a lack of confidence because of an unattractive smile.
What are the advantages?
The main benefit of wearing metal dentures is that they are tailor made to ensure it is compatible with the soft tissue in the mouth and as a precaution against the risk of allergic reactions or gum irritation.
Metal dentures are usually somewhat smaller than their plastic counterpart and do not fully cover the roof of the mouth like the plate in plastic dentures will. This results in the roof of the mouth being left uncovered, which in turn, improves taste sensations for the wearer, so you can taste your food better.
Additionally, the durable nature of a metal denture means that they are less likely to break or bend out of shape like the more fragile plastic denture alternatives.
Also, the snug fit of these false teeth, when placed into the mouth, are very comfortable to wearer, which could bring relief for people who have been worried about the feeling of any foreign object in their mouth for any prolonged period of time, although the longer you wear them, the quicker you get used to them and start to feel the comfortable of the application.
Although the metal option may prove more expensive than a number of alternatives, the long-lasting nature of these false teeth may make it worthwhile for individuals looking to improve their quality of life, oral health and smile and with our fantastic finance packages, you can spread the cost, making them even more affordable.
How do I go about getting metal dentures?
Initially, to get your dentures, you would be assessed to make sure that a metal denture is the right treatment for you. If it is, then impressions of your teeth and gums will be taken for the dental laboratory to produce your custom made metal denture.
Once the denture is ready and you are attending your appointment, we would place the denture into your mouth and do any adjustments as necessary at the denture fit appointment.
New dentures are like new shoes, you need time to get used to them and clients should wear their new denture as much as possible and eat with the denture in place and after a few days, come back to the Glasgow Denture Studio for the denture to be checked and so that we can carry out any further adjustments that are needed.
